£10,000 Available for Sandpits and Wheeler Road 2009 Community Projects.
29 May 2009
Ten years ago residents of Sandpits Avenue and the surrounding roads worked with South Shropshire Housing Association (SSHA) on the Rosebud Regeneration project. Rosebud was succeeded by Marches Housing and Charitable Trust (MHCT) which for several years has helped support Rockspring Community Trust. MHCT and Rockspring Community Trust want to continue their support to Sandpits area residents by making £10,000 available to develop community projects.
SSHA’s Regeneration Officer, Helen Vaughan is appealing to residents in the Sandpits area to come forward with their ideas.
Helen Vaughan, SSHA Regeneration Officer told us: “I am hoping that making funding available will encourage people to come forward with ideas for activities, days out, and courses. Activities can be for any age group, and be things that people will enjoy doing. I understand making things happen is not always easy-even when there is money available; Glenda Cuttell, Rockspring Manager and I have applied for funding for a Community Development worker,
who would help organise activities
, to work with the team at Rockspring. I have been told that people here are fed up with projects that are ‘here today, gone tomorrow’. We are looking for ideas that can really make a difference to the Sandpits and Wheeler Road community. If the idea takes off and people want the activity to continue, they can come back for funding in future years.”
If you have an idea that you would like to discuss, please get in touch with either Glenda Cuttell on 01584 874922 or Helen Vaughan on 01588 676235. Proposals must be approved by Rockspring Community Trust. The deadline for getting your ideas in is 30
th
June 2009.
