A Biomass boiler is now in use at South Shropshire Housing Association's new development at Rocks Green in Ludlow.
Biomass is a type of fuel, which is based on wood rising from saw mills that produces energy by being burnt. The fuel from Rocks Green is sourced locally. The woodchips are burnt within a central boiler which will provide heating and hot water for all of the properties.
Benefits of Biomass Fuel
Wood fuel is a carbon neutral resource and can make a significant contribution to meeting the UK's commitment to reducing CO2 emissions.
Carbon neutral means that although the burning process releases the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, the same amount is absorbed by trees from the atmosphere as they grow.
Wood fuel is exempt from the climate change levy.
A convenient form of heating in your home, the boiler is removed to a central location and your heat is controlled via thermostats in each room.
