Project Co ordinator
The four-year project for Craven Arms and Ludlow East has two full-time staff, and has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund's Local Food scheme in conjunction with Leader, a rural development funding programme which operates throughout Europe.
The project is run in partnership with
Ludlow 21 and Craven Arms Community Food.
Homegrown Project
The Homegrown project is funded by Advantage West Midlands. It works with local employers and young people who know they have good practical skills but are not sure how they can best use them in their future working life.
In rural areas, many employers find it difficult to recruit a workforce with the specific skills that their business needs to survive. The local economy prospers when local businesses have a local pool of talent to recruit from.
Homegrown aims to provide short programmes of taster activities which give young people the opportunity to try a number of skills-based/craft activities, supported by local business and craftspeople.
Taster activities are mainly developed around six key employment sectors ranging from Rural Land Management to Tourism and Environmental Technologies.

Shine Community Project
Shine Community Skills Project for the Wheeler Road and Sandpits Estate area (Ludlow East) provides a range of activities such as family cookery, craft workshops and other activities, that enable people to learn new skills and improve their confidence.
Family learning activities are based on having fun doing things as a family. On an individual basis, Shin

e offers people activities that suit their skills and that can help the participants possibly find employment.
The project is funded by a £12,000 European Social Grant and £10,000 MHCT funding has provided the Rockspring Community Trust with p.a for several years. Last year the Trust agreed the funding should be used for community development which would require an outreach worker. This enables MHCT to employ outreach worker Liz Edwards (pictured right).
